Four sheets at different lengths and difficulties. Every one is a two-page PDF — the worksheet, then the answer key on its own page.

Space vocabulary is long, technical and satisfying to write out, which makes it unusually good scramble material. TELESCOPE, ASTEROID and GRAVITY are words children meet in reading and on screen far more often than they ever write, so a scramble is frequently the first time they have had to spell one.

The planet names do something useful too. A child who knows the order of the planets has a way into the puzzle that has nothing to do with letters — they can work through the list mentally and check each against the jumble, which is a genuinely different solving strategy from the letter-shuffling one.

The four sheets go from a first-letter version to an alphabetical challenge. The harder sheets suit a class that has been doing a space topic, where the vocabulary is fresh and the puzzle becomes revision rather than guesswork.

If you are running a topic week, the maker takes your own list — the terms actually on your planning, rather than the generic set — and prints the answer key on its own page.

Common questions

Is it free?

Yes. No sign-up, no watermark, no limit on how many you make. The site is paid for by advertising, and no ad ever appears on a printed sheet.

Does it include an answer key?

Always, on its own page, so you can print both and hand out only the first. Downloading gives you a two-page PDF; printing from the page does the same.

Can I use my own spelling words?

Yes — choose "Write my own" and paste them in, one per line or separated by commas. Up to 24 words of three letters or more. Everything is generated in your browser, so your list is never uploaded or stored.

Why is one of my words showing unscrambled?

Because its letters cannot make anything else. Every arrangement of a word like "AAA" is the same word, and on the easy setting a short word can lose its only alternative once the first letter is pinned. The tool tells you which words these are rather than printing one as its own answer.

What is the difference between medium and hard?

Medium shuffles the letters at random. Hard puts them in alphabetical order, which is harder — a random shuffle can leave letters close to where they started, and alphabetical order removes every clue about the original word.

Will the same settings give me the same sheet?

Yes. Every sheet is built from a seed, so the preview on screen and the PDF you download are the same worksheet rather than two attempts at one. "New puzzle" changes the seed.
