Who runs this site

This site is operated as Puzzle & Print, an independent project based in Canada. For any question about this policy or about your data, email hello@puzzleandprint.com.

What you make here stays with you

Every puzzle, worksheet and PDF is generated by code running in your own browser. The words you type, the settings you choose, and the files you download are never transmitted to us, never stored on a server, and never written to a log. They are never put in a page address either. That matters because other services on the page, the analytics and Google’s advertising code, are sent the address of the page you are on.

This matters more than it might sound. A spelling list can identify a class. A set of bingo words can be a guest list. Because this site never sends any of it anywhere, there is no database of it to be breached, sold, subpoenaed, or accidentally exposed.

It also means we cannot recover anything for you, because we never have a copy.

Lists you ask your browser to remember

Nothing you type is kept between visits unless you ask for it. The makers that take a typed list, such as a spelling list, a set of clues or a class list, have a box marked Remember my lists on this device. It is off until you check it, and nothing is saved before you do.

With the box checked, the lists you choose to save are kept by your browser on that device, in its own storage for this site, and nowhere else. They are never sent to us, and never put in the page address that the analytics and the advertising code receive. Another browser, or another device, does not see them. Titles you type for a sheet are not saved.

Pressing Forget everything deletes every saved list from that browser at once and turns remembering off. Unchecking the box does not delete anything by itself: while lists are saved it first asks whether to delete them. Delete them does what Forget everything does. Keep them leaves the lists where they were, still only in that browser, and the box checked, because it stays checked for as long as anything is kept. Nothing new is saved unless you press Save this list. Each list also has its own Delete button, and clearing your browser’s data for this site deletes them all. On a computer other people use, press Forget everything before you leave.

What we do not do

• No accounts, so no names or passwords are collected
• No email required for anything, the mailing list is optional and gates nothing (see below)
• No selling or sharing of personal information
• No uploading of anything you type into a tool

The mailing list

There is an optional signup at the bottom of some pages. It is the only place this site asks for anything about you, and it is genuinely optional: every tool, every download and every answer key works exactly the same whether you sign up or not. Nothing is held back for subscribers.

If you do sign up, your address goes to the company that sends the emails and is used for nothing else. It is never sold, never shared, and never connected to anything you make here, the puzzles are still generated in your browser and still never reach us, so there is nothing to connect it to. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes the address.

Analytics

We use two analytics services, and neither ever receives anything you type into a maker. Each is sent the page’s address cut down to its path, plus any campaign tag in the link, so nothing after the path that could hold your own words leaves your browser.

Vercel Web Analytics counts page views in aggregate. It also counts each sheet downloaded or printed, noting only the kind of sheet and the page it came from, and notes which AI assistant sent a visit when the link or the browser says so. It sets no cookies and does not track you between sites or sessions.

Google Analytics counts visits, the pages they include and how long they last. Outside the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and Switzerland it sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_SF4WSFB6KY, which last up to two years, so a returning browser can be told from a new one; in those places it is told to store nothing on your device and sends only cookieless counts. Like any request to Google, it also receives your IP address, which it uses for approximate location and does not store, and your browser and device type. Google signals and ad personalization are switched off for it, so it is not used to show you ads. You can opt out of Google Analytics on every site with Google’s opt-out add-on for desktop browsers, or by blocking cookies for this site.

Advertising

This site is to be funded by display advertising, and no ads are shown yet. The Google AdSense code is already on every page, because Google reviews a site with the code in place before it approves an account, and that code is loaded from Google’s servers. When ads are enabled they will be supplied by Google AdSense, and Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads based on your prior browsing. This page will be updated at that point.

You can review and change how Google personalizes ads for you at Google Ad Settings, and read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Visitors in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and Switzerland will be shown a consent notice before any advertising cookies are set, and can change or withdraw that choice at any time. Advertising never appears on a printed sheet or inside a downloaded PDF.

Tips

The tip jar is on Ko-fi, a separate service, and leaving a tip is entirely optional. If you leave one, Ko-fi and its payment processor handle the payment. Ko-fi shares your name and email address with us, and PayPal or Stripe may share payment details, as Ko-fi’s own privacy policy describes. We use them only to keep a record of the tip, never for marketing, never sold or shared, and they are never connected to anything you make here.

Server logs

The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard technical logs of requests, IP address, browser type, and the page requested, for security and reliability. These are generated by the hosting platform rather than by us, and are not used to build a profile of you.

Children

These worksheets are often used by and for children, but the site is designed for adults to operate. It has no accounts, messaging, or uploads, and never asks anyone for a name, an email address or anything else about them. The only information gathered is the visit counting described under Analytics, which outside the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area and Switzerland Google Analytics ties to a random ID in a cookie; it is never linked to a name and never used to identify anyone.

Your rights

Canadian privacy law, the UK and EU GDPR, and similar laws elsewhere give you rights to access, correct, and delete personal information held about you. In practice we hold almost none: there is no account to access and no puzzle data to delete. Google Analytics keeps records of visits under a random browser ID, for at most 14 months, which we cannot connect to a name; clearing this site’s cookies starts a new ID. Lists you asked a maker to remember are held by your own browser, not by us, and Forget everything deletes them. If advertising cookies have been set on your device you can clear them in your browser at any time, and adjust your consent choice through the notice.
